A Case of Tracheal Stenosis following Prolonged Endotracheal Intubation.

Abstract
Prolonged intubation of trachea in the treatment of acute respiratory failure has become commonplace in intensive care units(ICU). Severe complications such as tracheoesophageal fistula, tracheal stenosis, tracheoarterial fistula, and cuff
trachiectasis
can follow prolonged intubation. The 24 years old male patient was performed an endotracheal intubation for airway keep after car accident. The endotracheal tube remained in place for 7 days. After extubation, about 2 months later he complains of
dyspnea. Necrotic granulation tissue on mid-trachea was removed by surgery. After surgery, his symptom was improved and he was discharged. It was considered that the necrotic granulation tissue on the cervical trachea was formed as a complication
of
prolonged endotracheal intubation. Histopatholoic finding of the granulation tissue showed chronic inflammation and ulceration.
